Yahoo Mail Redesigns The Inbox For A Cleaner, Smarter And Simpler Experience

AI-powered message summaries, quick actions and intuitive design make email and task management easier than ever

Note: Verizon Media is now known as Yahoo.

While there are more ways to communicate than ever before, email remains the key way most people are managing tasks and obligations on a daily basis. The way people are using email is changing, so Yahoo Mail is redesigning the inbox experience to help people stay organized and accomplish their goals.

Starting today, Yahoo Mail is rolling out one of the most significant updates to its desktop experience in nearly a decade. With most email users making a habit of checking their inbox every day, and Yahoo Mail users checking two to six times each day on average*, ease-of-use is top of mind. When people log into their accounts, they will be met with a clean new design and new AI-powered features to help them stay organized, summarize important messages, highlight crucial need-to-know information, and provide easy ways to take action and complete their tasks.

Email is a crucial tool for daily life, but even our most engaged users can get overwhelmed by their inbox. In fact, 40 percent of people have at least 50 unread emails at any given time**. To help solve that, we are taking our first steps towards enhancing the personal email experience with a sleeker design and new AI capabilities to make it easier for the one in three Americans who use Yahoo Mail every month to get things done.***

Yahoo Mail is evolving the personal inbox, launching a new,  intuitive desktop experience

Your own personal assistant: A new Priority inbox tab will automatically highlight the most important messages first, along with AI-generated, one-line summaries of an email’s contents—a feature which Yahoo Mail is the first to offer. Once opened, the top of the email message will include a summary of the contents in a bulleted list along with proposed actions, tasks or responses needed, helping parents, students and professionals to spend less time on admin and more time tackling the actual job at hand (or making memories). Users can also add key dates mentioned in a message to their calendar with just a few clicks.

Take the next step - seamlessly: Users can more easily take action on an email with quick actions right from their inboxes. Add an event to the calendar, view a schedule, RSVP for an invite, track a package, check in for a flight, access a verification code, see hotel reservation details and more - with a single click.

Streamlined tasks: A brand new starred view panel gives users an easy way to see and access their most important tasks and things they may want to revisit.

Hello modern inbox: The Yahoo Mail inbox is getting a cleaner, more intuitive design. The desktop experience will evolve with improved navigation, and enhanced visual elements and readability.

All together now: To further streamline the email experience, users can link other email accounts to a Yahoo Mail account. With Yahoo Mail being the primary destination, users will be able to enjoy all the features they love, but still send and receive all of their emails - no matter the provider - in one spot.

People are craving better ways to streamline the daily activities that often bog us down like managing multiple email accounts, sorting out their schedules, reading through long messages, and tracking orders. The new features we’re launching are aimed at making life that much easier for anyone that relies on email - which of course is practically everyone.

The new desktop experience will be available to all new users in the U.S. and existing users will have the chance to opt-in over the coming months; the mobile app experience will follow. Learn more at https://overview.mail.yahoo.com/
