Inclusive Media Fellowship Program
Diversifying our newsrooms
The Inclusive Media Fellowship Program supports and advances diverse representation in journalism. Fellows impact millions by contributing to the coverage of breaking news and current events – working with talented editorial teams, tapping into a vast network of resources, and experiencing hands-on professional development. Notably, this program is designed to disrupt the status quo and change the state of journalism itself.
Inclusive stories reflect the world around us
Yahoo is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all journalists. We believe that inclusive stories provide a more nuanced lens of the world around us, reflecting the often-overlooked experiences of multicultural audiences.

Knowing the work I do reaches millions of sports fans around the world who engage in our content. It's fulfilling to know our work touches many who love and care about sports as much as we do.

As a fellow, I am able to pitch my own stories and write on topics that I truly care about. I am currently the race and equity reporter and I am loving every moment of it!

By working with the team at Yahoo Finance, I was able to quickly gain knowledge and understand the rapid movements of the equity market. Another major bonus of the fellowship was the opportunity to tell different stories and learn about the different beats.

The Yahoo fellowship has been exceptional - it has helped me craft, and continue to craft, my skills as a print and on-camera reporter.
Rebecca Chen

I thought I knew (mostly) everything there was to know about digital journalism, but when executing on a global scale that’s, literally, in the billions, it puts a perspective on the work that we do. The fellowship made me not only a better writer, but a better journalist and producer as well. I hope to pass that education forward.
David Artavia
Sr Reporter, Yahoo Entertainment & Yahoo Life
Member of NAHJ
Winning an award during the fellowship for a story about a family being returned property that was stolen from them by the government 100 years ago [was most rewarding]. I appreciated my team for letting me tell an in-depth story about this long running situation.
Garin Flowers

By being a part of this program, I have learned to hone my abilities as a reporter and evolve from just telling generic news stories to really providing market analysis pieces.
